2 years
ago, they were told they never belonged here; people said their names were not
in the books, even if it was, they were written with pencil, and could be
erased anytime, probably after 2 years.
People
always talked about how hard it was to succeed from that realm. Even those they
expected to encourage them, told them to their faces that making it was like
finding a needle in a hay stack.
Their
lecturers treated them like scum beneath thier shoes, this they perceived from
their attitude to lectures. Their senior colleagues couldn't count them in; they
were always relegated to the back where people thought they belonged.
Amidst
all these, they stood their ground, undetered. They had faith and they believed
that it was their fate to make it, no matter the circumstances.
Out of
300 students, people told them only 20 might scale through. For many of them
then, it was quite impossible to cross the bridge, and before the 1st year was
over, they were left with barely 120 students to battle for the over prophesied
20 spots.
2 years
now, and they are still here. Their names were not erased, rather they were now
written with pen.
They
couldn't have reached here if not for the grace of God, the support of their
families, friends and well-wishers who believed in them even when they least
believed in themselves. Most of them they had personal relationships with, and
others that they least knew about.
They are
grateful to all of you for your immense support. May God continue to bless you.
To their friends, thanks for being there for them. To those who they are yet to
be friends with, they pray that the lenten season creates a platform for them
to reconcile their differences with you and become friends.
To their
homies who are yet to be here with them. Your struggle will never be in vain.
Their admission status shall be your portion, and till then they'll keep their
bottles ready, waiting to pop them together with you.
To those
already on this journey, and those planning to embark. Diploma or Pre-Science
might not be as hard as they prophesy. "Believe in yourself, keep focus,
make the best of nice friends and God will crown your efforts with
success".
